Connie Fiorella Fitzpatrick

Connie is a muralist and public arts administrator based in Lawrence, KS. Her work reflects her Peruvian heritage, where she lived until age ten, and focuses on projects that build cultural equity. Her murals, such as “Compartiendo Culturas” (“Sharing Cultures”), created with students at the Carver Dual Language School, and “Justicia Para Las Madres Inmigrantes” (“Justice for Immigrant Mothers”), developed in collaboration with the Horizontes Project, are celebrated for building cross-cultural spaces and a sense of belonging. Additionally, Connie designed and developed the Independent Markets Initiative with the Kansas Arts Commission, pairing culture-specific grocers with public artists whose heritage reflects the cultural heritage of the grocers.

Recognized as the first Kansan to be selected as a National Association of Latino Arts & Culture ALI Fellow 2023 and PolicyLink Spatial Futures Fellow 2025. Connie is one of 13 leaders from across the U.S. and its territories to advance reparative spatial justice at local, state, and national levels with PolicyLink. Through her work, she champions systemic change and cultivates opportunities for cultural preservation and community resilience.
